Okay, so: Tri files are modifications to the shape of a base mesh. In Skyrim and FO4, tri files are used mostly to adjust head parts, either to give them expressions or to change the base shape. Bodyslide uses a variant form of tri files to implement different body shapes. The usual way of using tri files with pynifly is to import the main nif, like the head, and then with that shape selected in blender import the tri file. If the tri is good it will be imported as a set of blender shape keys, each implementing one of the tri morphs. By default, pynifly will try to do this for you--if you implement head.nif it will look for head.tri and headchargen.tri and import those too. You can import a tri file without a base mesh if the tri file has full info about vertex positions (not all do, but most vanilla tris do). You won't get shader info and may not get UV info, but you will get a usable mesh. |
