Privacy Policy - Fermi+

Overview

Fermi+ ("Fermi", "Fermi Plus", "the App") is an educational management platform that connects teachers and students. This privacy policy explains what information we collect and how we handle it.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Display name (optional)
  • First and last name
  • User role (Teacher or Student)
  • Profile photo URL (optional)

For Student Accounts

  • Grade level
  • Associated teacher ID
  • Enrolled class IDs

Educational Data

  • Classes created by teachers
  • Assignments and their details
  • Assignment submissions
  • Grades and feedback
  • Class enrollment information

Authentication Data

  • Authentication tokens from Firebase Auth
  • Login timestamps
  • Last active timestamps

How We Use Information

We use your information to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Enable teachers to create classes and assignments
  • Allow students to view assignments and submit work
  • Store grades and academic progress
  • Display user profiles and names within classes

Data Storage

All data is stored using Google Firebase services:

  • Firebase Authentication: Manages user accounts and login credentials
  • Cloud Firestore: Stores user profiles, classes, assignments, grades, and submissions
  • Firebase Storage: Stores uploaded files and profile photos

Data is stored on Google's secure cloud infrastructure with built-in encryption at rest.

Third-Party Services

Firebase Services

We use Firebase (owned by Google) for all backend services. Firebase's privacy practices are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

Data Sharing

We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties. Information is only visible to:

  • Teachers can see their students' information and submissions
  • Students can see their own information and grades
  • Students can see basic information about their classmates (names only)

Data Security

  • All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption
  • Firebase provides built-in security features including authentication and access controls
  • Database access is restricted by Firebase Security Rules
  • Passwords are managed by Firebase Auth and are never stored in plain text

Data Retention

  • Account data is retained as long as your account is active
  • Deleted accounts and their associated data are removed from our active database
  • Firebase may retain deleted data in backups for a limited time per their policies

Your Rights

You can:

  • View and update your profile information
  • Delete your account (In the Settings Menu)
  • Request a copy of your data (contact the administrator)

Children's Privacy

This app is intended for educational use and may be used by students of all ages. While supervision is recommended for younger students, it is not required. Students can create independent accounts without needing teacher association. We collect the same information from all users regardless of age, as outlined in the "Information We Collect" section above.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy as the app develops. Users will be notified of significant changes through the app.

This app is provided as-is for educational purposes. We process data based on:

  • Consent (when you create an account)
  • Legitimate interests (to provide educational services)

This privacy policy applies to the Fermi+ Dashboard web, mobile applications, and Desktop Programs.
