Difficulty to select whole words

Problem

In the past 2 or 3 weeks, my double click selections don't pick anymore safely (in Codium only), partial selections happen at a first and second try, eventually at the third I manage to select the whole word, like usually. This problem surfaces from time to time, it isn't always present but always there.

Expected

When I double click a word I expect any text editor to pick up the whole target word. I double click words in other text editor applications too and without issue.

Additional context

Selected variables are simple alphabetic strings, without symbols, punctuation or numbers in between.

Linux mint = 21.3
Codium = 1.109.51242
Electron = 39.3.0
