I have a small RV pump providing water pressure to my house, and I want to turn it off during sleeping hours to save a bit of power and the occasional pumping to re-pressurize the system due to leaky toilets. I also have a small fan blowing on the pump to keep it running cooler, but the fan only needs to come on if the duty cycle of the pump is above 25%.
The pressure switch of the pump is hooked into the ESP device rather than switching the pump on/off directly. (Due to the low quality switch corroding due to full current passing through it)
Here are my rules to accomplish it:
The ESP counts up using the ruletimers (not super-accurate, but enough to get a good ratio) with ruletimer1 counting while the pump is off and ruletimer2 counting while the pump is on. At the end of every minute, that ratio is put into var4 and the fan is turned on for 70 seconds if > 25%.
Switch position is polled on boot and at every change.
Relay 3 (a dummy) is defined so I can turn the pump on and off on a schedule and easily integrate it into Home Assistant.
