Update VBuffer documentation (#3136)

* Improve VBuffer documentation.
* Improve the XML documentation for VBuffer/VBufferEditor.
* Update the "best practices" documentation to reflect recent changes.
* Update parameter names to avoid abbreviations, e.g., src => source and suchlike.
