NeoGeo Darksoft set

Hi,

For some consoles, like the Analogue Pocket, the Darksoft set is required.

Does anyone know how to go from the MAME or FBNeo to the Darksoft one?
If not, is anyone aware of a DAT file for the Darksoft one?

Honestly, great question. I've gone looking for the same thing myself in the past and couldn't find anything.

You could probably make yourself a DAT using the new dir2dat command from v2.2.0, but it wouldn't include any parent/clone information, so you wouldn't be able to merge & split the set at all.

The closest I got was this SMDB: Darksoft Neo Geo SMDB.txt unfortunately it doesn't have the file sizes...

I also tried using dir2dat on the Darksoft romset, but it didn't go well... because all the games have the same set of files inside it only inserted those files in the dat, not separating by game: games (20240106-105736).dat.zip

For the SMDB, #818 should eventually solve the lack of filesize. I haven't had time to work on it with the end-of-year holidays, but it's high on my list.

Ah, got it, dir2dat needs to be able group by each file's parent directory. If you zip the folders within your Darksoft Neo Geo 2020-05-12/games/ directory and then run again it should work. Something like:

  zip -r "${dir}.zip" "${dir}"
done

@AlexMC @emmercm curious what you did to get this to work as I'm running into issues. My current workflow:

zip the set:

Very late response, but I found what the problem is. When I tried doing a dir2dat from a fully extracted darksoft 2020-05-12 set, it created a game for every file, and not for every subdirectory. I'm going to make a change so that dir2dat assumes subdirectories with multiple files should be grouped together into one game.
