I believe the issue you are experiencing is the same one I ran into yesterday. There's a change in 0.57 that means hyprland now offers HDR capability to applications (if your display supports it) where before it would only offer SDR capability if you had your display in SDR mode. The issue (at least as far as I can tell) is that now your browser is always sending HDR data even when you are playing SDR content, so your display switches to HDR mode and everything gets washed out. Right now I'm getting around it with a window rule:

I have the same issue. Fairly sure I'm only noticing it now because it didn't offer HDR to fullscreen surfaces before. For me the problem isn't that the colors are washed out but that my monitor takes like 3 seconds to switch from and to HDR mode which is infuriating. Asking ChatGPT seems like this is not only my monitor but HDR mode switching in general. Seems like atrocious default UX for me. Fix is either setting the monitor to HDR permanently. Or staying in SDR and turning off auto HDR with hl.config({render = { cm_auto_hdr = 0}}) |
Uh oh!

Hyprland version
0.57.0
Is this a regression?
Yes. Used to work in 0.56.2, but it becames a bug in 0.57.0
What's the bug?
So after updating hyprland from 0.56.2 to 0.57.0 every time I go fullscreen (F11 or fullscreen video on youtube) the screen blinks and the video looks kind of washed out and bad quality until I exit fullscreen. On 0.56.2 this did not happen.
My staff:
I did reproduce it on purpose: count of Modesetting eDP-1 lines in hyprctl rollinglog was 0, then I entered and exited fullscreen 2 times in Brave and it went to 3. It always says the same mode 2880x1800@120.00Hz and nothing was changing, so I guess it should not update the whole mode every time?
I have vrr = 1 and all other render/color settings are just defaults. Will try render:cm_auto_hdr 0 and misc:vrr 0 later and tell if it helps
Thanks
