Pull Request

Issue

Closes: #3519

Approach

  • Upgrade parse from 8.6.2 to 8.7.0 and the dev dependency parse-server from 9.10.1 to 9.11.0, which add Node.js 26 to their engines. parse-server 9.11.0 also brings @parse/push-adapter 8.6.0 and @parse/node-apn 8.2.0, which add Node.js 26 too.
  • Add Node.js 26 to engines in package.json and package-lock.json as >=26.13.0 <27.0.0. 26.13.0 is the first Node.js 26 LTS release.
  • Add a Node 26 entry to the CI test matrix with Node.js 26.13.0, the minimum version in engines, like the other entries.
  • Add Node.js 26 to the Node.js badge and the compatibility table in the README.

#3041 made the same changes for Node.js 24, except for the dependency upgrades. With the upgrades, no package in package-lock.json excludes Node.js 26.13.0 in its engines. The e2e test can run on Node.js 26, because #3523 upgraded puppeteer to version 25, which installs Chrome on Node.js 26.

Adding Node.js 26 support doesn't change the Node.js major version of the Docker image. Since #3518, the image moves to a new Node.js major version only with a major release of Parse Dashboard, or earlier if its Node.js version reaches its end-of-life.

Tasks

  • Add changes to documentation (guides, repository pages, in-code descriptions)

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Compatibility
    • Added support for Node.js 26.13.0, including in the documented compatibility information.
    • Updated Parse and Parse Server to versions 8.7.0 and 9.11.0, respectively, with updated supporting packages.

🚀 Thanks for opening this pull request! We appreciate your effort in improving the project. Please let us know once your pull request is ready for review.

Tip

  • Keep pull requests small. Large PRs will be rejected. Break complex features into smaller, incremental PRs.
  • Use Test Driven Development. Write failing tests before implementing functionality. Ensure tests pass.
  • Group code into logical blocks. Add a short comment before each block to explain its purpose.
  • We offer conceptual guidance. Coding is up to you. PRs must be merge-ready for human review.
  • Our review focuses on concept, not quality. PRs with code issues will be rejected. Use an AI agent.
  • Human review time is precious. Avoid review ping-pong. Inspect and test your AI-generated code.

Note

Please respond to review comments from AI agents just like you would to comments from a human reviewer. Let the reviewer resolve their own comments, unless they have reviewed and accepted your commit, or agreed with your explanation for why the feedback was incorrect.

Caution

Pull requests must be written using an AI agent with human supervision. Pull requests written entirely by a human will likely be rejected, because of lower code quality, higher review effort and the higher risk of introducing bugs. Please note that AI review comments on this pull request alone do not satisfy this requirement. Our CI and AI review are safeguards, not development tools. If many issues are flagged, rethink your development approach. Invest more effort in planning and design rather than using review cycles to fix low-quality code.

Merge Risk: Low · up to 3171e

This PR adds Node.js 26 support and updates the Parse dependencies. The declared minimum Node 22 and Node 24 versions are still lower than what the updated dependencies accept, so users on those older patch versions may see engine warnings. The mismatch existed before this change and is a bounded cleanup rather than a merge blocker.

Explanation

Issue #3519 requires Node.js 26 support. The supplied whole-PR evidence reports parse 8.7.0 and parse-server 9.11.0, >=26.13.0 <27.0.0 in the project engines, Node 26.13.0 in .github/workflows/ci.yml, and Node 26 in the README badge and compatibility table. The lockfile records the required dependency and engine updates, including the push adapter and APN packages.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The reported changes stay within issue #3519. The package-lock.json updates to @parse/node-apn, @parse/push-adapter, node-forge, and graphql support the requested dependency upgrade and lockfile consistency. No unrelated feature or Docker major-version change is reported.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

No eligible functions found in the changed files. Skipping docstring coverage check. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 0 functions across 0 files. (4 skipped: 4 unsupported.)

Full details: Security Check

Explanation

PASS. The PR changes only Node.js compatibility metadata, the CI matrix, documentation, and pinned dependency versions. It adds no application logic, unsafe workflow interpolation, or credential handling. All changed package tarballs use the npm registry with integrity hashes, and the offline npm audit reports zero vulnerabilities for both the PR and base lockfiles.

Full details: Engage In Review Feedback

Explanation

The review feedback was not engaged. The outstanding finding identifies that the PR keeps >=22.12.0 and >=24.1.0 while upgraded parse and parse-server require >=22.13.0 and >=24.11.0. The reviewed diff confirms these old minima remain in package.json, package-lock.json, CI, and the README. No posted discussion or corrective commit is present, and the PR contains only the original feature commit.

Resolution

Discuss the finding with the reviewer. Then either update the Node.js minima consistently in package.json, package-lock.json, .github/workflows/ci.yml, and README.md, and commit the changes, or convince the reviewer that the feedback is incorrect and have the finding retracted.

Limit check-build token permissions.

check-build executes pull-request code without declaring token permissions, so it inherits repository or organization defaults instead of enforcing least privilege. This is a pre-existing hardening gap for the Node 20, Node 22, and Node 24 entries; the Node 26 matrix addition does not introduce it.
