Exporting either/or .kf and .hkx anims results in errors (Blender 4.4 and Skyrim SE)

The error within console is when I try to export my animations to .hkx files and the error on blender interface is when trying to export to .kf

I'm using the latest version of PyNifly that was published 2 days ago,

Best way to export animations is the method documented in the wiki. Import the HKX skeleton file, do your animation, export directly to HKX.

If you already have your animation but the skeleton is an older one you imported from a nif, import the HKX skeleton, assign the animation to it, hook it to any meshes, get rid of the old one.

I made a quick anim with the above steps and this still happened

I managed to export but the files are 2KB, regardless of the animation. I reused the exported .kf files they created to convert to .hkx but they're all missing rotation channels.

Does the skeleton import need to be via the .hkx or .xml import dialog?

Via HKX. Just "Import HKX", choose the skeleton, the right thing happens.

I managed to get the .hkx files exported, and specifically selected "Skyrim SE" but this happens. I redid the werewolf skeleton to be quadruped with new meshes and hkx files.

Truth is I've never created a new creature skeleton. It should work, but there are a whole lot of new variables involved. I might need to know the whole process you're following.

What I would expect to work is

1. Import werewolf HKX skeleton
2. Maybe import the werewolf mesh
3. Move the bones in edit mode to where you want them
4. Revise the werewolf mesh into your new creature (or start from scratch)
5. Export the new skeleton, nif and HKX files
6. Export the new animations (you'll need a full set, so you may be editing a LOT of animations)
7. Export the new mesh
8. Built the behavior.hkx files and all the rest of them
9. Make your new race
10. etc. etc.

There's a reason not many people do this.

What most people do (see Skyrim Immersive Creatures) is use an existing skeleton and animations, maybe with slight modifications to the skeleton.nif, small enough to not mess up the animations, and put a new mesh on top of it. A sabrecat or bear might be easier for you with this one.

I was retooling the werewolf itself as a sort of override, I believe the biggest problem is the skeleton.hkx and my figuring it out. I wasn't going to make new behavior files but rather reuse the werewolf ones. I made a quick and unrefined edited xml with pynifly's exported skeleton and replacing the original overlapping part of the xml, which leads to these visuals. It doesn't appear to animate, while using the actual exported skeleton causes a t pose. I'll really need to experiment with the skeleton.hkx file

I can export a skeleton.hkx file but as I note somewhere--might be another bug report--I'm really not sure the exported file is useful. There's a bunch of stuff in a skeleton hkx file which I don't look at or touch. At best, you might be able to export my file to xml, edit the xml (keeping the bones and their transforms) and then convert back to hkx.
