Bug Description
When using Sodium 1.21.11, my FPS is consistently capped at exactly 144 FPS, even though my monitor runs at 240 Hz.
This issue does not occur in Sodium 1.21.1, where I get the expected ~240 FPS under the same conditions.
Reproduction Steps
-
Install Minecraft with Sodium 1.21.11
-
Launch the game with only Sodium installed (no other mods)
-
Observe that FPS is capped at exactly 144
-
Downgrade to Sodium 1.21.1
-
Launch the game again under the same conditions
-
FPS returns to ~240
Expected Behavior
FPS should not be capped at 144 and should match the monitor refresh rate (~240 FPS).
Actual Behavior
FPS is consistently capped at exactly 144 FPS in Sodium 1.21.11.
System Information
- GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4070 SUPER
- Monitor: 240 Hz (single monitor setup)
- OS: Windows 11
- Minecraft version: (1.21.1)
- Mod Loader: Fabric / NeoForge (issue occurs on both)
Additional Notes
- VSync is disabled in-game
- No FPS limit is set in-game or in the NVIDIA Control Panel
- Issue only occurs in newer Sodium versions
- Older version (1.21.1) works as expected
