Righto gents, here are the docs for the website. The current state of the site is that it is hosted on a staged domain: skatepal-app.herokuapp.com until you fill it up with content + we add some final tweaks (arabic translations etc etc). You can make changes on the administration back-end and when we are all ready to move it over to the skatepal.co.uk domain we can just switch it. The site is populated with a bunch of test content that you can just change over to something real.
We're up to our eyeballs with work, so in order to make the process of you guys reporting a problem or asking for some new feature, could you please use the following link:
Here, you can simply click New issue, describe the issue in the title and then give a description. It is much easier for me and martin to managed this stuff if it is all in the one place.
Ps. You may have to create a Github account, should be quick.
Go to skatepal-app.herokuapp.com/locomotive and the login is:
- username: nomadicwebirl@gmail.com
- password: skatepal1
We can change the details to something secret when we move over the domain.
So, I will just list each page that is available on the site and how you would go about editing the content or updating it. When you log into the administration backend, you should see the following menu:
You access everything you need through this menu.
If you go to Pages -> Home, you should see:
You can upload 3 images that will be front-paged on the Home Carousel
In Pages -> Home, you can choose the Head tab and there you can enter some text that describes SkatePAL. This is in the same style as the makearchitect home page.
Go to Post -> new entry, most fields are self-explanatory.
- Featured image: This is image that will appear in small format on the home page
- Post Image #x : These are the images that will be displayed when the post is viewed on it's own
The Advanced Options fields below are solely to help with page ranking. The only fields that you need to worry about are SEO title and Meta Keywords.
- SEO title: This can be the same as the post title
- Meta keywords: This is a comma delimited list of keywords for the post
- example: skatepal, skateboarding, ramallah
Go to Pages -> About us, you should see:
You have the option to upload up to 10 images.
You can choose the Main tab and enter text that describes SkatePAL.
You may have to experiment with the amount of images and text in order to get something looking good.
In order to access the projects, you can go to the dropdown menu, and choose featured projects, like so:
You should see a list of projects. Each item is a separate thing that SkatePAL is working on or has completed. For example, the Mini ramp in Ramallah could be a project item. We modelled it in this way similar to the makearchitect site.
You can create a new project buy clicking the new entry button:
Or, have a look at the test projects we have uploaded and you should get the general idea.
To have a map on the projects page which shows where the park is located, you must obtain the lat and lon co-ordinates of the parks location. To get lat and lon co-ordinates of the park just find the parks location on google maps and it should provide you the corresponding corordinates. heysh
You can add new team members to the Team page via Team -> new entry. If you look at the Team page, you can see a short list of team members, and a menu on the left which allows you to filter by City. When creating a new team member in the back-end, you can see you can enter Name, Filter (this will be the City), and Image:
Videos is pretty simple, you can go to the Trick tip menu item and add a new entry or change some of the test data we have. Each video item has a Name and a youtube url.
Contact is very similar to Videos, you can access it at the Contact info main menu button. Each contact person has a Name, Email, Number and Image entry.
Every textarea has been duplicated so that one entry is for English and the textarea below is for Arabic. If you see a textarea with a label that contains "ar". As seen below the two textareas correspond to the client filter attribute. The textarea with the label "client ar" takes the Arabic translation.
