my guess is that it's how skyslime trees are growing on an earthslime island. although given they did not try to reproduce with just tinkers i would not be surprised if it's some other mod's fault

That's not a bug. That is a feature clearly mentioned in the recent changelogs. Including in the visual changelog: https://slimeknights.github.io/posts/2026/01/05/slimeworld-update/#better-overworld-islands

Hence why this issue report is confusing, I see nothing wrong in that screenshot.

Closing for lack of resource. Your screenshot does not summarize the bug, so your attempt to show off just left this issue unactionable.

All I can see in the screenshot is an intentional feature from a recent changelog you might have missed. So maybe this falls under works as intended.
