[Bug]: Syntax errors in queries causes disappearing thumbnails

Description

typing anything that causes a syntax error in the query language causes Non-Intractability and thumbnails disappearing when hovering over them.
these issues stop when you search for something else of course.

Expected Behavior

A syntax error should be recoverable and not cause issues for the user

Steps to Reproduce

1. search any syntax error: ", :, etc
2. hover / try click on thumbnails

Seems related to #776, I'm currently investigating a fix for this. The underlying issue with this seems to be exceptions that are raised inside of lambdas, however I haven't successfully caught exceptions raised from the parser system yet
