Installation on Android Auto is different from installation on phones / tablets.

It is not I think? When I tested this with the Android Head Unit emulator, NewPipe would appear as a usable app from Android Auto without doing anything (i.e. the Android Auto app on the phone would automatically pick up NewPipe after NewPipe is installed on the phone). The only thing that I remember I might have had to do was to enable apps from unknown sources from within the Android Auto app? If that's the case we could write a short FAQ on that. I'll ask Android Auto users to confirm.

To install the application, you need to go to the settings, find "Android Auto" in the search box, scroll down and go to "version". You need to click repeatedly until developer mode is activated. After activation, click on the 3 small dots at the top right and go to the developer settings, then find "unknown sources" and check the box. Restart your phone and check in Android Auto under available applications that newpipe is activated!

I confirm too, the steps above are correct. Just to clarify, Android Auto doesn't require any dedicated installation. The "unknown sources" procedure is just to make Newpipe visible on Android Auto.
