Using HCP with modern OS?

It seems that Freesurfer 6 is the recommended version of Freesurfer to use with HCP pipelines. However Freesurfer 6 was only built for CentOS 6, which was EOL in 2020.

Are there ways to use HCP pipelines with CentOS 9, debian 12, or Ubuntu 24 for example?

Or, is it possible to use HCP with Freesurfer 7.4.1 or 8.1.0?

You could use QuNex (https://qunex.yale.edu/) to avoid OS issues for now. We are going to make another run at FreeSurfer 8.X shortly. The problem is we have had trouble getting surface quality as good as FS6 or FS5.3 with these later versions.

Just checking if there was any progress on validating Freesurfer 8, or any ways to run HCP on newer OSes?
