Issue Description

Since we produce code that's consumed by clients, we should assess and fix any potential security vulnerabilities by adopting the practice of having continuous SAST code scans and remediation in our repos. We'll enable gosec on the following repos:

• api enable gosec #969
• library enable gosec library#147
• registry-support gosec enablement registry-support#142
• registry-operator gosec enablement registry-operator#27
