This removes mandatory check on metadata in the response from the server. Creation of multiple MRDs will not work if mandatory check is present. If read handle is provided, the server might not return metadata, so removing the mandatory check

Summary of Changes

Hello @krishnamd-jkp, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request streamlines the multi-range downloader (MRD) by removing the explicit handling and conversion of negative offsets, which previously relied on object attributes. The convertToPositiveOffset function and its invocations have been eliminated, simplifying the request processing logic within handleAddCmd and processSessionResult. This change suggests a refactoring where negative offsets are either no longer supported in this component or are expected to be resolved before reaching this stage, thereby removing a mandatory dependency on attribute responses for this specific operation.

Highlights

  • Removed Negative Offset Conversion Logic: The convertToPositiveOffset function and all its calls have been entirely removed, simplifying the multi-range download request processing.
  • Eliminated Attribute Dependency for Offset Handling: The system no longer attempts to convert negative offsets using object attributes (m.attrs.Size) within the handleAddCmd and processSessionResult methods.
  • Streamlined Session Result Processing: The logic for handling the first session result has been simplified by removing the conditional conversion of pending ranges and an error check for missing metadata.

Code Review

This pull request refactors the multi-range downloader by removing the client-side logic for handling negative offsets and making the object attributes in the initial server response optional. The convertToPositiveOffset function and its usages have been removed, simplifying the client by delegating negative offset resolution to the server. Additionally, the code no longer errors if the first response from the stream does not contain object metadata. The changes appear to be self-contained and correctly implemented to reflect a change in the client-server protocol.

Thanks for your work on this, a couple thoughts...

  1. We should add an integration test for this case (creating MRD using a read handle).
  2. We should get persisted size in the first response even with the read handle correct? In that case I would expect us to be able to convert to positive offset using that.
  3. Are there deadlocks as a result of waiting on the attrs in NewMultiRangeDownloader?

Can discuss all this via chat and/or when we meet.
