What's the easiest way to use release-please with dependabot?

Ideally, when I merge a PR created by dependabot, I'd expect release-please to add that to the next release.

From the readme,

Release Please creates a release pull request after it notices the default branch contains "releasable units" since the last release. A releasable unit is a commit to the branch with one of the following prefixes: "feat", "fix", and "deps". (A "chore" or "build" commit is not a releasable unit.)

but it's unclear to me whether this requires a config to dependabot or release-please

release-please looks at commits on the main branch and builds its release notes and changelog according to conventionalcommits.org. It does not care who those commits come from. You will want to configure dependabot to use a specific format or change it when you merge a PR.

Hi @chingor13, what I meant is that release-please ignores dependabot PRs, I think I've fixed it here: #2584
