web builder nucleo 32f401re for GRBLHAL stymied

Catch 22. Many options fail to load onto the nucleo board. Those that do use default config files that prevent use of the board (GRBLGRU or other senders). Alarm9 occurs on startup despite grounding limit pins as specified in the board map for that option. That alarm CAN be over ridden, but along comes error 79, which locks the console. RESET of the board does NOT clear the condition, so no "reset" ($X etc.) will be sent to the board. Not sure what causes the error, but without access to config files, I'm stranded.

Oh, I'd love to use the stm32 IDE, but the screens that come up do NOT match the videos or text instructions, and I have the same issues with PlatforomIO. I'd really like to use GRBLHAL, as Grbl Mega L has some stability and threading issues. However it WILL run, but only with config file tweaking (see the notes on threading for Mega).

thank you. I jumpered the limit pins for all 3 axes, to G, and will try taking the estop either high or low to counter the Error79. As I am trying to use the web-builder, I have no access to any config files, and on startup, I can deal with the error9, but would need access to $ commands to change anything else, no access to the configs used by the web-builder, and cannot unlock. I managed to win using GRBL-L-Mega, as a board hardware reset allowed me to enter $ commands / configs. Not so with this board. Seems to me G21 and limit pin mapping allowed me to use it, eventually. Thank you for your response!

I grouinded the estop pin and err79 cleared, so I'm in business with $$ and $ commands. Thank you so much!

Unlike Grbl grblHAL allows the use of (most) $-commands in Alarm state. Only Hold and Door states prevent their use.

As it turns out, none of the web.builder options for F401RE support the V3 cnc shield pinout and include index pulse input support, so I'll move to the F446RE. Thank you again for your help!

The latest version of web builder accommodates spindle index and sync inputs! Great!
