Most people track their applications in spreadsheets.
This template takes a different approach.
Instead of scattering information across documents, notes, and folders, everything lives inside a single Obsidian vault. Each application has its own structured space containing:
- Program information
- Application status and progress
- Notes and documents related to that specific application
The goal is simple: one repository for everything related to your applications without loosing the dashbaord-like visualizations about the application states.
Using an Obsidian vault makes it easy to:
- Keep all application information in one place
- Link documents and notes together
- Maintain a clean, structured repository instead of juggling multiple files
If you already enjoy working with Markdown and knowledge-base tools, this workflow feels very natural.
This approach does require a bit more discipline than a spreadsheet.
To get the most out of it, you need to:
- Maintain a consistent structure
- Be comfortable working in Obsidian
- Spend a little time setting things up
But once the system is in place, it becomes a powerful way to manage complex application processes.
I originally built this vault to manage applications to graduate programs and fellowships.
Feel free to adapt this vault to your own workflow.
Also, feel free to contribute to the template.
