[FR] Structural Parts / Order Groups

Problem statement

Hi,

Sometimes we have components which will always be ordered together with others, either because the manufacturer only sells them like this or maybe just because it is more convenient. For now the users only option is to have either the whole group as one part to make the purchase tracking more convenient or to have each component of the group as individual part which allows the individual tracking of the components but complicates the purchase / sales tracking.

Suggested solution

It would be nice to have Structural Parts in InvenTree which act a bit like assemblies in that you can assign other parts to it. In contrast to assemblies these parts however do not have own stock but instead modify the stock of their child parts if a stock action is done. So you could add this structural part to a purchase order and on receive the dialog opens for all its child to be sorted into their desired location.

Describe alternatives you've considered

Maybe it would be an idea to expand assemblies to serve this function but this would be not that clear of a distinction.

For starters it also could be an idea to strongly limit on where structural parts can be used to simplify the introduction into the existing structure.

@SchrodingersGat after reading into the discussions a bit the discussions cover it somewhat I would say. I leave it up to you if you want to have this here as a kind of collection of these discussions or not.

For me, bundle items would be something I heavily need. I searched if this feature exist. Then I searched for a feature request. So it's good that it exists already, even if maybe the discussions aren't closed.

But how is #1192 related to this? I mean the idea of bundle Items is to not have a "Stock", how would you breakdown what is not existing? :) #2624 is also more about disassembling what is there, than to bring in bundle items to InvenTree?

An alternative implementation would be a "Stock on demand". So you have a Part, which has a Stock which is the lowest number of the BOM items. Whenever this Part is shipped, the Part is "build" automatically, so Stock movement of the BOM is tracked like it is today. The only difference: It's "automated", and not manually.

This way also reporting is not broken.
