   I found a workaround, definitely not ideal, but you can do:

   4500 BCE: start sumarians
   id: start_sumarians
   
   after !start_sumarians 2600 years: Sumarians  #keep
   
   3100 BCE: start egyptians
   id: start_egyptians
   
   after !start_egyptians 3070 years: Egyptian Dynasties  #keep
   
   27 BCE: start romans
   id: start_romans
   
   after !start_romans 422 years: Unified Roman Empire  #keep
   

   And filter on the keep tag to hide the start events:

   For the >100k BCE you could use (though even less ideal):

   99999 BCE: year 99999
   id: year_99999
   
   before !year_99999 50000 years - 100000 years: some  period (200k-150k BCE) #keep
