WSL1/LxCore Reference Source

Please create a "reference source" repository of lxcore.sys and remaining WSL1 components.

This would be similar to some existing releases of Windows components, including NetAdapterCx.sys and the .NET Framework BCL.

While I understand the various potential reasons why lxcore.sys cannot be included here, it should be possible to dump the driver in a read-only "reference source" repository for possible researchers and developers.

This would finally complete what #1 was meant to ask for.

How to collect WSL logs

Download and execute collect-wsl-logs.ps1 in an administrative powershell prompt:

Invoke-WebRequest -UseBasicParsing "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/microsoft/WSL/master/diagnostics/collect-wsl-logs.ps1" -OutFile collect-wsl-logs.ps1
Set-ExecutionPolicy Bypass -Scope Process -Force
.\collect-wsl-logs.ps1

The script will output the path of the log file once done.

If this is a networking issue, please use collect-networking-logs.ps1, following the instructions here

Once completed please upload the output files to this Github issue.

I am aware of that and issues that may prevent a fully open release of lxcore like in the main WSL repo, hence the "reference source" approach - a dump from a subtree of the Windows codebase, like NetAdapterCx.

Hopefully this can continue to go forward in the open-source direction.
