User experience (Step by Step)

• Pre-requisite: dotnet-trace tool need to be installed and available from $PATH
• Open command pallette && type Record C# DevKit Trace

- Optionally, selecting the host process to trace

• Optionally, provide additional arguments to dotnet trace command
• C#DK start collecting tracing information using dotnet trace tool

A fix for this issue is now available in the next pre-releases of C#DK/C#. If you'd like to try out the fix, please see these instructions to update or try pre-release versions.

@LittleLittleCloud I didn't have dotnet-trace installed. Can we convert this error to something faster for user? If we know we need this for the command to work we can make this faster.

Instead:

• Notification type should be changed from Warning to Error, user is blocked and this command won't work without tool installed.
• Popup now says "dotnet-trace tool is required and currently not installed."
• Primary Blue Button "Install dotnet-trace". Clicking button auto opens terminal and runs command.
• Second Gray Button: Learn more -> https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/core/diagnostics/dotnet-trace

This issue has been fixed! Please update to the latest versions of VS Code, C# Dev Kit, and the C# extension.
