Description
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
There is no centralized nor easy way to get an overview what NC users did with regards to a certain group/label of contacts (or a single contact - but notice the emphasis on "group/label" as inevitable).
This problem arises if there are more than one persons working with contacts (e.g. customer support specialists, sales representatives, pre-sales representatives, project managers, etc.). This typically happens in matrix-structured organizations or in any organization giving 24/7 support or multi-tier support (i.e. some other person on the other end of the world takes over where her colleagues left few hours/days/weeks before). This also happens basically in every startup or SME (small or medium enterprise) which is I believe one of the major targets of NC.
Describe the solution you'd like
Some "view" resembling a feed/stream/list/history opened by selecting/click_on a group/label (or single account) with two kinds of information chronologically sorted and interleaved:
-
What NC already knows.
1.a) If it's a short value (an instant messaging message, a short email, etc.) then the whole value shall be shown (e.g.2020-09-02 13:04 Lena: Hi Frank, what about the 1 mil. USD contract?).
2.a) If it's a complex (or long) value (e.g. a document edition) then just a message2020-09-02 13:04LDAP user "Lena" edited document "Contract with Company 1.docx"would be shown (perhaps with a small excerpt). -
What NC user explicitly linked with the selected contact (i.e. this document edition is linked to group/label
Company 1).
Both (1) and (2) shall support easy (e.g. one-click away) proceeding at the chosen place - e.g. clicking on IM message will take one to the IM app and start conversation. Clicking on the document shall take one to the document and scroll to the position of the edition. Etc.
Let's say it could look very similar to a GitHub issue.
Describe alternatives you've considered
a) Either filtering NC activities based on selection of a group (of contacts in "Contacts" app) with auto-fetching of those "short values" as described above and enhanced interaction (tighter integration) with the Contacts app.
b) Adding such feed functionality to the "Circles" app instead of to "Contacts".
c) Creating a completely separate app for this functionality.
d) Adding such feed functionality to the "Projects" functionality of NC.
But I think (a) and (b) would be much more complicated in the end and (c) doesn't make that much sense because of overlap with Contacts. And (d) seems difficult though it might sound quite close.
