Synchronization stops working after short time (Android 13, News 0.9.9.91) [refs #1453, #1448]

I am experiencing the same issue as described in #1453 and #1448. The News Android app stops synchronizing after a short time. Rebooting my device makes it work temporarily, but the problem returns.

Device details:

• Android version: 13
• News app version: 0.9.9.91 (from F-Droid)

When the issue started: Last week

Troubleshooting steps tried:

• Clearing cache
• Reinstalling the app
• Logging in with both Single Sign On and manual login

Switching to another news reader works and syncs properly, so this appears specific to the News Android app. Please investigate further, as this is affecting usability. See also: #1453 and #1448.

Thank you for opening the bug report. What phone are you using? Which OS? (Stock Android or a Custom ROM?)

Any energy saving features enabled? Maybe you can disable all energy saving restrictions for both Nextcloud News app and Nextcloud Files App.

The device is a Oneplus 8 Pro using the stock ROM (OxygenOS).

There are no special energy savings enabled, but I have now changed the the setting from ask to never optimize.

I am seeing some errors in the nextcloud log which i thought where not related but according to nextcloud/server#52997 (comment) might actually be.

Not sure if same bug or different, happy to make a new issue if needed.

I seem to have lost syncing as well, a complete delete and reinstall does nothing.

The odd bit, is that I cant reconnect to the Files app after a reinstall. The login works and my web server logs the /index.php/apps/news/api/v1-2/version? request, but nothing loads.

turns out my issue is the fact that I have used more then 90% of my phones storage, I really need to either empty it or get a new phone

After NC update from 31.0.09 -> 31.0.10 the issue disappeared.

Can't confirm here, the issue still persists on 31.0.10 for me.

Just to be pedantic: before the NC update I had reverted the News Android app to the previous version (0.9.9.90) but the issue persisted. After the NC update the issue went away. Only then I updated to the current version 0.9.9.91. Still no issues.

Don't have anything else to add to this issue...
