How can this be done reliably?

CURRENT STATUS:

• my own Corolla added
• use ai to draw outlines
• use cv to extract outlines and calculate scale
• somewhat scripted or hardcoded but it's somewhat vibed anyway and we can adjust as needed!

For the Nissan leaf the mount should be where the QR is located on the corolla letter template

Hi @nelsonjchen. Here is my scan for my 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe. I'll be installing a C4 (currently have C3). I took 2 scans, 1 with the cover as closed as possible as well as another with a bright light shining up into the cover for better contrast. Let me know if you need anything else.

From what I can tell, the center of the camera/camera cover is directly on the vehicle centerline.

Also, the top of my C3 mount is currently 53mm from the bottom of the camera cover in case that helps anything.

I tried to get one of the Ioniq 5 2025 LTD cover but it's a tad too big for my scanner - are any of these actually usable?

Probably not, let me figure out another workflow. Might need to be photogammetry input with size reference.

Just a video of the cover in bright lighting against a contrasting floor. That's thousands of photos.

I need to try it with my own cover though.

I've been using this workflow to make mock scans for 3D printing mounting projects.

Here's one from a '23 Chevy Bolt Premier. Honestly getting a proper scan is hard. Setting up 5 flashlights for contrast is no easy task.
