Feature Request: Categories and Tags

Currently categories are icons.

I would like to setup categories and tags in the settings which would be kept in the app after.

I want to add categories to Users so that if I click on a user and add a transaction, the list of categories to choose from would be the ones I've setup for that user.

I want to add tags to Categories so that if I click on a category in the settings, I can check tags from the list of tags to choose from. Tags would be created in the settings as well under Tags.

I want to set the share type (equal, 1/2, %, etc) either on a whole category. This way if I set the category I don't have to set the share type again for each transaction. Splitwise has the same feature and it's working great.

Categories would be pretty much the ones I've seen from the icons currently available on the app.

Tags would be more specific but without an icon. I see tagging as a sub category. My use case would be the store name but can be anything.

Sort by category(ies) and/or tag(s) and/or date and/or user.

Makes it convenient if I want to find X grocery (category) from X store (tag) receipt from X (date) shared with X (user).

Coming back to this issue, I believe tags is just going too far, but some expense filtering is neeeded. I liked your rundown of the filtering and we can open an issue strictly about that, but I'm closing this one as categories are already here and I am not going to add tags.

The only downside of the current categories is that it doesn’t let me setup a share type.

For example groceries is almost always 1 share for me and 2 share for my partner. I would prefer to this to be always set by default. If I need to do 50-50, I would like to manually change it. Split wise has this and it’s saving a lot of time.

Could you open a discussion specifically about this so that we can work out a solution? Also sharing how it looks in Splitwise will be helpful
