**New Features**
- **Bandwidth Allowances:** Every compute now includes a monthly allowance of outbound internet traffic, pooled across your team. Track your team's usage under **Team Settings > Billing**, and each compute's monthly usage below its **Network** chart. Only traffic above the team's allowance is billed. ## Bandwidth on Your Invoice

Each team has a monthly allowance of outbound internet traffic, pooled from all its computes. If the team uses more than its allowance, the invoice has a **Bandwidth** section with one line, **Extra Bandwidth Usage**, showing the GB above the allowance, the price per GB and the amount. If the team stays within its allowance, there is no bandwidth line.

See [Bandwidth](/services/compute/bandwidth) for how the allowance and charges work.

### Outbound Bandwidth This Month

Below the **Network** chart, **Outbound bandwidth usage this month** shows how much internet traffic the compute has sent this month, up to the end of the previous day in UTC. **View team usage** opens your team's bandwidth usage, where each compute's usage is shown against the allowance it adds to the team.

Charges only apply when the whole team goes above its pooled allowance, so one compute using more than its own allowance is not a charge on its own. See [Bandwidth](/services/compute/bandwidth) for how the allowance and charges work.

### SC Metrics Agent

The [SC Metrics Agent](/agents/sc-metrics-agent) automatically installs with your compute to collect performance data. This agent runs in the background and sends metrics to the dashboard for visualization.

title: "Bandwidth Allowances and Billing"
sidebarTitle: "Bandwidth"
description: "Learn how outbound internet traffic from SC Compute is measured, how each team's pooled monthly allowance works, what traffic above it costs, and where to see your usage."
---

Every compute comes with a monthly allowance of outbound internet traffic. The allowances of all the computes in a team are added together into one pool, and you only pay for traffic above that pool.

## What Is Measured

Bandwidth is the **outbound internet traffic** sent by your computes: data leaving our network for the internet, such as responses your applications send to visitors and files they download from you.

These are **not** counted and are always free:

- **Inbound traffic**, such as uploads to your computes and packages you download onto them.
- **Traffic between your computes**, and any traffic that stays inside our network.

Traffic is measured on the server that hosts your compute, not inside the compute, so it is counted the same way whatever runs on it.

## Allowance per Specification

Each specification includes a monthly allowance:

| vCPU | RAM | Monthly allowance |
|------|-----|-------------------|
| 1 | 512 MB | 115 GB |
| 1 | 1 GB | 235 GB |
| 1 | 2 GB | 470 GB |
| 2 | 4 GB | 900 GB |
| 4 | 8 GB | 1,800 GB |
| 8 | 16 GB | 3,600 GB |
| 16 | 32 GB | 7,200 GB |

The allowance for each specification is also shown in the **Bandwidth** column when you create a compute. 1 GB is 1,000,000,000 bytes.

## How the Team Allowance Works

**The allowance is pooled per team.** Every compute adds its allowance to one team-wide amount, and your bill depends on the team's total traffic against that amount. One busy compute can use the allowance of quieter ones.

**Part of a month counts for part of the allowance.** A compute adds its allowance for the share of the month it exists. For example, a 1 vCPU / 2 GB compute created halfway through a 30-day month adds about 235 GB, not 470 GB. A compute you destroy keeps the share it built up until it was destroyed.

**Stopped computes still count.** A stopped compute is still billed, so it keeps adding to the allowance.

**Upsizing gives you the bigger allowance for that whole month.** If you upsize a compute, the new specification's allowance applies from the start of the month you upsized in. Past months are not changed.

**Months follow UTC.** A month starts at 00:00 UTC on the 1st, which is 02:00 in Kigali.

## Price

Traffic above your team's allowance costs **38 RWF per GB**.

## How It Is Charged

Bandwidth is charged the same way as your computes: daily, from your credits first and then your balance.

- **Each day**, we work out your team's usage for the month so far, take away the team allowance and what you have already been charged this month, and charge the rest.
- **Charges are in steps of 0.01 GB**, rounded down. Anything below that carries over to the next day, so nothing is charged twice and nothing is lost.
- **On your monthly invoice**, bandwidth has its own **Bandwidth** section with one line, **Extra Bandwidth Usage**, showing the GB above your allowance, the price per GB and the amount.

If your team stays within its allowance, there is no bandwidth charge and no bandwidth line on the invoice.

## Where to See Your Usage

**For the whole team:** go to **Team Settings > Billing > Overview** and open the **Bandwidth** tab. For the selected month it shows:

- the team's usage against its allowance;
- the cost of any usage above the allowance, and the price per GB;
- **Usage breakdown**: each compute's usage against the allowance it adds to the team.

**For one compute:** open the compute and find the **Network** chart. It shows the compute's live public and private traffic, inbound and outbound. Below the chart, **Outbound bandwidth usage this month** shows the total for the month, with a link to your team's usage.

<Info>
Monthly usage covers full days, up to the end of the previous day in UTC, so today's traffic is added tomorrow. The **Network** chart shows live traffic, so the two can differ during the day.
</Info>

<Warning>
A compute using more than its own allowance in the usage breakdown is not charged on its own. Charges only apply when the **team's** total goes above the **team's** allowance.
</Warning>
