Is it OK for an API server to accept a Create/Note activity and return a Create/Article activity?

I’ve seen a similar case (proprietary client, no C2S involved) where a Create/Image is converted into a Create/Note with an Image attachment (for Mastodon compatibility). EDIT: However, this might be only a transport-related conversion versus a conversion stored within the server.
