Description

To ensure the ability of running any Autoware test scenario in both SSv2 and CARLA, a reliable tool to create/generate OpenDRIVE maps is required. This task involves testing out different tools that could be used to fit our needs.

Purpose

To select a tool to use for generating OpenDRIVE maps.

Possible approaches

• Try out each of the tools below (suggestion):
  • Carla converter from OpenStreet Map: CARLA (UE4) has a built-in feature to import sections of OpenStreet Map, but it may not be available in the UE5 version yet.
  • Blender: plugin for Blender
  • Pyoscx: script-based map generator
  • SUMO: SUMO map converter
• Investigate additional tools if required.
• Document the investigation of each tool in a sub-task, including pros and cons.

Definition of done

• A sufficient number of tools are tested.
• A comparison of all findings is performed.
• The most appropriate tool is selected.
