What

Hermes releases now take the plugin path in release-integration.yml (no package to publish) instead of the Python/PyPI path.

Why

  • Hermes installs the plugin from the NousResearch/hermes-agent plugin catalog, which pins this repo at a commit. Nothing pip-installs it.
  • The publish step has failed on every Hermes release since v1.1.0 (latest: v1.2.3, run 38767138414). uv build runs the plugin's setup.py as a setuptools script, but that file is the hermes memory setup wizard and imports agent.secret_scope, which only exists inside Hermes.
  • hermes-plugin-hindsight was never published (PyPI returns 404), so no one depends on it. The old hindsight-hermes package stopped at 0.5.0 in March.

The pyproject.toml stays: the test job uses it.
