Description
To establish a standalone map conversion toolchain capable to perform conversions from the OpenDRIVE format to Lanelet2.
Purpose
Currently Autoware doesn't support maps in the OpenDRIVE format (.xodr). This format is used in a broad range of scenario databases, such as the Safety Pool. Since native support to the OpenDRIVE format is not planned in the short term, we need to have a standalone converter to enable us to use such databases.
Possible approaches
- The Commonroad Scenario Designer: tool provides a basic conversion from OpenDRIVE to Lanelet2. We can use it as part of the toolchain, with either (or both) pre-processing and post-processing
Definition of done
- All sub-tasks are completed as per their own "definition of done".
- All sub-task results are reviewed and approved by the task creator.
- All sub-tasks are closed.

Since this task was not planned on the AWF Roadmap Phase 1 of the ODD WG, I moved it to Phase 2.
